Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026.
This policy describes how ind-x handles information when you use our search service.
Information We Collect
ind-x is a decentralized search engine. We do not collect personal information from users. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or analytics that identify you.
Our crawler visits publicly accessible web pages and extracts only metadata: title, description, keywords, and Open Graph tags. We do not extract or store full page content, user-generated content, or any private data.
How We Use Information
The metadata we extract is published as Nostr events to participating relays. This makes the search index distributed and censorship-resistant. Anyone can run a relay or build search tools on top of this data.
When you perform a search, your query is processed locally in your browser or routed through Nostr relays. We do not log search queries, IP addresses, or associate queries with identities.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data — because we don't collect it. The metadata index is public by design, published to the Nostr network for anyone to access.
Crawling Practices
- We respect
robots.txtand standard crawl directives - We observe rate limits and crawl politely
- We only index publicly accessible pages
- We do not bypass paywalls, authentication, or access controls
Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you are a site owner and wish to have your site's metadata removed from the index, you can:
- Add a
noindexdirective to yourrobots.txtor meta tags - Contact us via the contact page with the URL(s) in question
Third-Party Relays
ind-x publishes to public Nostr relays operated by third parties. We do not control these relays. Their own policies govern data retention and access on their infrastructure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the project evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
